If you have any question about this notice or about how we handle your data, email us at the address above.
What we collect
We collect the following, depending on how you use the store:
- Order information — your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and what you ordered.
- Payment information — handled by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Account information — if you create an account, your login details and order history.
- Messages you send us — anything you write in the contact form or by email, including an order number if you give one.
- Marketing preferences — whether you have asked to receive our emails.
- Device and usage data — your IP address, browser, device, the pages you view and how you arrived. Collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Take payment, ship your order, and give you order updates | Performance of a contract with you |
| Handle returns, refunds and customer service | Performance of a contract, and our legal obligations |
| Keep records for tax and accounting | Legal obligation |
| Prevent fraud and keep the store secure | Our legitimate interests |
| Understand how the store is used so we can improve it | Your consent (analytics cookies) |
| Send you marketing emails | Your consent, or our legitimate interests where you are an existing customer and we are offering similar products |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
Marketing
We only send marketing emails if you have opted in, or if you have bought from us and we are telling you about similar products. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to opt out. We will stop straight away.
Cookies
This store uses cookies. Some are strictly necessary — they keep your cart working and let you log in — and these do not need your consent. Others are used for analytics and marketing, and we only set those if you agree.
You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the store working.
Who we share it with
We share your data only with the organisations that help us run the store:
- Shopify — our ecommerce platform, which hosts the store and processes orders.
- Payment providers — to take payment and check for fraud.
- Delivery partners — to get your parcel to you.
- Email and analytics providers — to send emails you have asked for and to understand how the store is used.
We do not sell your personal data.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Sending data outside the UK
Some of our providers, including Shopify, are based outside the United Kingdom. Where your data is transferred abroad, we rely on safeguards approved under UK law — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement — so that your data keeps the same protection it has here.
How long we keep it
- Order and transaction records: six years after the end of the relevant tax year, because HMRC requires it.
- Account data: until you ask us to close your account.
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe, and then a minimal record so we know not to contact you again.
- Contact form messages: up to two years after the query is resolved.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to delete your data, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- object to us using it, including for direct marketing — which you can do at any time, and we must stop;
- ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider;
- withdraw consent, where consent is what we rely on.
To exercise any of these, email jas@jaskarngill.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection:
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
Children
This store is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Please check back from time to time.
